Obviously people will want to spend a lot of time with these characters, and while it’s laudable that all of this and more are playable in Marvel Heroes Omega, the fact that the game places severe restrictions on their playability is obviously a problem.įor the purposes of this review, we have received packs that contain a number of characters to be able to play as, but that will of course not be the case when players download the game to play on their own. You don’t have to be an ardent, avid Marvel fan to want to play as Daredevil, Hulk, Spider-Man, or Wolverine.
And that’s something that almost feels like a necessity, and not just to get around feelings of monotony and repetition. The problem arises when it comes to buying new characters in the game. “There is enough to like here, but that shouldn’t take away the fact that the game suffers from a number of major issues as well.” Longtime fans of the comics and some of these characters might be tempted to purchase these costumes, but they are by no means a must have in order to progress in the game. The majority of microtransactions are, admittedly, limited to aesthetic items – new costumes or skins for a number of characters that differ in appearance and sound, but don’t change anything important. Being a free game, Omega Obviously had to include microtransactions for it to be a viable business model for developers, but it’s sad that the game doesn’t do that very well. However, it is also this element that creates one of the most important problems in the game. Marvel Heroes Omega is, of course, a free to play game, and aside from the Marvel license, it is this element of the game that will attract the majority of gamers.
Granted, there is something to love here, but that shouldn’t take away the fact that the game suffers from a number of major issues as well. There are a ton of Marvel characters here, both iconic and obscure, and it feels like a lot of effort and care went into creating each one, individually.
This is a pretty standard dungeon crawler, and you often have to go through long, arduous periods of repetitive grinding to be able to make any real progress, but underneath it all is a game full of content. IIf you’re a fan of Marvel comics and their characters, there’s a good chance you’ll end up liking Marvel Heroes Omega.
